Ladies and gentlemen… I’m back!  Don’t worry, I haven’t left you guys dry like this electric shaver will…or won’t.  If that doesn’t make sense then neither will Panasonic’s wet/dry marketing for this shaver.  I actually ended up liking this one quite a bit, it is on their lower line of ES models with 3 razors but that are ‘Nano-tech’ blades.  What does all that gibberish mean to you?  Means the thing vibrates so fast it’s going to set your hand numb! LOL, not really so don’t worry.  But it will get the job done quickly and nicely and you can get it plenty messy.

  Wet and dry capable – what that means for you.  

  Maybe you grew up with your Dad or Brother shaving their face with shaving gel and this has given you a high level of masculinity that requires your ego to lather your face up and do it by hand.  But MAYBE, just maybe you like the conveniences of electric shavers (here’s my review of the best ones) so you want the best of both worlds.  Well then, this is the product for you my friend.  You can still lather your face up with your favorite shaving gel but then use this to get rid of the hair.  How well does it work?  Honestly, I like it better than the classic razor, not as cheap feeling and you have it on a permanent basis.  So don’t feel like you are cheating on your family heritage of masculinity, eventually technology needs to hit all of us. 

What it lacks

For it’s price it doesn’t lack much.  It is a bit more bland or plain in design compared to others.  Your price range for this one is average, it’s not going to break on your third shave but it also might not last to pass on to your first son.  It’s right in the sweet spot of price range which makes it practical, I wouldn’t recommend going lower than $50 if you want some durability and you are going to be using it on a daily basis.  It may lack a few blades (3 compared to 5-7 range) but honestly my girlfriend nor I noticed, so what’s the big deal?!

Look and feel

Well it doesn’t look or feel as good as I do… LOL.  Sorry for all my good jokes.  As seen on the picture, it gives you a clear battery percentage (1-100%), a vibrate scale and a water symbol.  The button is in a good spot and big enough you won’t miss it like some other products I’ve reviewed.

Conclusion

So what’s the bottom line?  Well, I don’t think you are going to get ripped off going with any of Panasonics products.  As long as you aren’t going to be showing this off to your friends and design doesn’t matter all that much then I would recommend going with this one.

I know it can be rough to know what you want and what you need in these things.  After all, we just want a smooth quick shave that the ladies will like right?!  Well I was nice enough to spend a couple hours developing a guide with funny pictures of hairy chests and crazy beard styles that I know you will laugh at while you read the best tips on learning how to choose the best product for you.

Go slow.  This should speak for itself.  Any rushed movements down there and you might not have any kids down the road or again.  Hold the hair trimmer of choice tightly yet lightly so it grazes your skin.  Let your shaver do the work and don’t rush it along or you might get caught up in your curly mess of nastiness.

The after party.  And no, I’m not talking about your girlfriend or wife enjoying your new man-scaped wonder.  After finishing your job and you have yourself looking how you want down there (most men prefer not to trim everything in their groin area) you want to take care of it.  Use either good lotion or baby powder and pat it on lightly.  This will make you comfortable for your night out or day at work whichever it may be.  You may need to repeat this 2-3x.

 Why does this win the top spot?  Because I used it on my bony face and it adapted the best!  You aren’t going to spend a fortune on it either so more money for you to spend on yourself haha.  It was super easy to clean, push the two side buttons  and off pops the head so you can rinse it out.  My favorite part of it was you can do everything in the shower for your morning or nightly routine.  When shaving with this, you don’t need to push hard at all.  It feels like an electric hand held razor, even more so with how much water it can withstand.

Razor count is 3, our #2 has 5 but costs more.  You can pop out a trimmer for those long mole hairs that you don’t want around.  The night life of this one is like a disco club, lights up on the bottom.  Just try to not get caught singing using the shaver as your microphone.  The battery charge area on the bottom looks awesome and is by far the easiest way of all shavers reviewed to tell how much juice you have left.

This bad boy has a total of 154 reviews on Amazon with 95+ of them 5 stars.  Your battery is going to last longer than any cheap brands you have tried in the past.  It fit my hand (27 yr old male just in case you were wondering) very good which is an important factor most don’t talk about.  Very comfortable all around, I did have to go back over some of the rougher patches on my face multiple times compared to the #2 razor below which got it all the first time but this Braun Series 7-720 cost is overall the best bang for your buck.

Numba 2 – Panasonic ES-LV81-K Arc5, the Grand-daddy of them All

I bet you are drooling just looking at this thing…just kidding!  But I am.  The only reason this didn’t take the #1 spot is because the price is higher and I didn’t feel like most men would be willing to pay for it.  If you want to feel like a million dollars, the Panasonic ES-LV81-K is going to do just that.

Where to begin?  5 blades gave me the feel of a champion after shaving.  The black and silver design is clean and modern with teal lighting that will make you turn it on even when you don’t need to shorten the beard.   You can read all the detailed technology here like ’30 degree blades’ or 14,000 RPM and Linear Motor.   Honestly, unless your an engineer none of that will even make sense haha.  But don’t worry that’s what I’m here for!

What’s the big deal?  Automatic cleaning system that comes with cleaner (oils).  If you don’t want to refill that you can always use hand soap in the shower.  Only 2 blades are visible and there are 3 right below that.  Overall this is the luxury shaver.  When you put this in your hand you may hold it up like you won a gold trophy!  Don’t let your girlfriend/wife see you doing that, it may be hard to explain lol.  It has 4.5 overall rating of 248 reviews (best percentage of all).

#3 – Panasonic ES-LA93-K Arc4, the perfect in-betweener

  If #1 was not nice enough and #3 is out of your world then #3 is “jusssst right.”  Has the look and feel of the ES-LV81-K without the price tag.  Panasonic has been in the game for years and that is how they have taken 2 of the top 3 spots.  They pay more attention to the smaller details and you can literally feel it on your face.

This one has 4 blades and a convenient docking station for recharging (instead of a chord).  To clean it, you get to drown it by sticking it headfirst into the water and it cleans and charges at the same time.  This battery lasted me the longest of the top 3.  The ES-LA93-K (what does that even mean?!) has the most positive reviews on Amazon with a total of 430.

 What’s the big deal?  I am… just kidding!  Overall it is very basic while being on the luxury end too.  It’s the best of both worlds and will last you for years.  Low upkeep to keep it going, takes up more counter space room in your bathroom then others but isn’t it time you get equal with your partner?  Not a lot of pressure was needed to get rid of my stubble, I really liked this one.

  What the heck is a vacuum doing in it?!

Don’t worry about your face getting sucked off but it does have a weird feeling…  It tries to suck most all the stubble and nasty hairs to keep your sink clean but that’s what it’s there for!  See your wife is already going to be happy with you and now you can bug her for leaving her long hairs in the sink LOL.

How good of a job does it do at keeping hairs inside of it?

80-90%.  Honestly folks, unless your a clean freak I would recommend the Panasonic ER-GB40-S because you can take it in the shower with you and let the water do the work.   This philips QT4050/41 would be good for places like work or in the car and other places where you don’t have quick access.   But why are you afraid of letting people know you have a 5 o clock shadow?  Just teasing ya..

Conclusion

Best for on-the-go (but wait don’t leave me yet!) use.  If you are at home you might as well get one that can withstand getting soaked and cleaned up.  This doesn’t stop all hairs from getting in or around the sink and you have to empty out the cartridge full of your nasty leftovers ha.  The price is parr with others but I would check out our top 3 list before you spend $40-50 for this one.

So it’s sexy but what else?  LOL don’t get turned on by it!  The dial is what makes it stand out and buy it over a different product.  It has 19 (yes, still a teenager) dials which is the most in the Panasonic trimmers series.  If you can’t find your perfect setting among 19 dials, you my friend are a hard one too please.  Sorry guys, you don’t always get 19 tries with Women in life but at least you do on this one.

What else will you like about it?  Take it in the shower with you.  Wash it but not with your clothes lol.  You won’t be sticking in individual bunny batteries because it is rechargeable.  Free Willy won’t like this saying but you can shout out “Clear the water hole!” each night after you use it.  There is a quick drain/clean system that I liked when using it.

What is it missing?

What Makes Celebrity Beards Look So Good?

This is actually a common question. Maybe you’ve even asked yourself this question. Us ‘average’ males — we can’t seem to pull off the flawless styles that celebrities wear. When we compare our freshly-groomed look to theirs in a mirror, it almost looks like a lawn mower ran ours over.

The truth is that most celebrities have professionals who trim and sculpt their facial hair, so if you have enough money, you can constantly wear a flawless beard as well. That is the missing element.

Timing Is Crucial

I know – I get it; as men, we want to get through the process as quickly as possible, but that is not the best way to get a great shaving experience. Trust me when I say that rushing will lead to some pretty mean facial abuse that you don’t want to deal with.

What you need to do first is prepare your skin. Much like you might prepare your girl before you….it’s important to prepare your skin for what it’s about to go through. You know skin has feeling too, right? You should start by giving your face a quick wash. I recommend a decent facial cleanser because it will soften the protein inside of your hair follicles.

Before you rinse it off, you want to leave the cleanser on your face for about one minute. Next, go ahead and lather your face with some shaving gel or cream. Make sure you let the shaving cream or gel sit on your face for at least two minutes, but it’s best to leave it on for three. Brush your teeth or comb your hair while you wait – if you want. The pros: this product is easy to clean, and it has a rotary dial that makes it very easy to adjust ‘cut length’. Its design is very simple, and I really enjoy that. It also has a battery that lasts a LONG time. Unlike some of the alternatives, this one doesn’t ‘pull’ hair, and it’s quite a bit classier looking than previous Remington models. It also has a heavier ‘head’ piece, which makes trimming, particularly against hair growth, effortless. Since the cutting attachment is built into the Remington MB4040, it’s VERY durable. However, it DOES have some downsides.

#3 Philips Norelco QT4070 Vacuum Beard

At #3 is the Philips Norelco QT4070, and if you can’t pass this model up because of its powerful vacuum capability, get a decent price on it right here. Out of a staggering 800+ reviews on merchant websites, nearly 600 of them are 4 and 5-star reviews. However, this model does have a little bit more 1 and 2-star reviews than similar products, but it still made #3 on the top list.

If it didn’t have a few particular downsides, it would’ve been at #2 just because it has a vacuum. Although some customers have actually said they think the vacuum idea is stupid, I think it’s AMAZING. I can’t tell you how many times my wife has nearly kicked me out of the house because of the huge stubble mess I left behind.

The vacuum feature sucks up at least 90 percent of all of the hair that is cut, and for someone like me, THAT is a life saver. However, the biggest issue with this trimmer is the comb because it’s, frankly, poorly designed, but this rating is for the trimmer as a whole.
